Developer Mode:

This will wipe your Chromebook C720 and erase everything on it that you have not backed up off of it.
Plug in power cable
Esc+Refresh then hold down Power button.
Ctrl+D then Enter to convert chromebook C720 to Developer Mode
From now on, at boot you can hit Ctrl+D to boot faster.
To UNDO developer Mode, when booting, hit space option to reset your chromebook to original.

Battery Issue Solution

A lot of people are having battery issues with these refurbs. My battery stats were showing wildly inaccurate numbers, the Chromebook was draining very quickly and it was not entering sleep/hibernation when I closed the lid. You can check your battery stats and check to see if your laptop is entering sleep/hibernation by typing chrome://power/ into the URL bar.

I checked to see which release channel I was on and it was Beta instead of Stable. After changing it to Stable I've had no issues with the battery. To check if you are on Beta go to Settings -> Help -> and click on More Info...

Here's how to change the release channel.
1. Settings -> Help -> More Info...
2. Change Channel...
3. Select the Stable Channel
4. Follow directions to Power Wash and Reboot

keyboard:

Found a bad key on mine. Apostrophe key doesn't work unless pressed hard.

nevermind - it has to be double pressed. The tilde key too.

EDIT: figured it out. I had to uncheck the 'international and USA' check box in the Chrome settings for the keyboard. Leaving just the USA box checked, now the keyboard works with no quirks..

C720 only takes 2242 (22mm x 42mm) M.2 NGFF SSDs and afaik the largest available is 256GB.

For what it's worth, the warranty provider is listed as "Liquidity Services" a liquidation vendor that runs the acer eBay store--so these are likely to be manufacturer refurb stock that Liquidity is clearing out for Acer.
